<![CDATA[BLUE SAUSAGE INFANT - NEWS]]>Fri, 18 May 2012 19:38:06 -0500Weebly<![CDATA[Paris in the sprungtime]]>Wed, 04 Apr 2012 16:24:00 -0500http://bluesausageinfant.com/2/post/2012/04/paris-in-the-sprungtime.htmlThanks to everyone who visited the Zeromoon booth at Qwartz 8, tuned in to the live BSI & Violet sets on Anton Mobin's "A Maizing Session," donned the headphones for the Silent Stage performances, etc. Good to see comrades old and new.

Had a great time crawling around Paris, collecting field recordings (the bells of Sacre Coeur & misc. street sounds made for some great textured loops during the set at Qwartz)... Tried to capture the incredible raven-calls at Montmartre Cemetery but they sensed my motives and took their conversations elsewhere, alas.

Both gigs were recorded well, and hopefully some of it will surface on the next release, which is percolating in the brain even now. A bit early to think of such a thing, considering MANITOU is just taking its first breath. But there's always a next release percolating... Cheers to Paris and beyond. ]]>
<![CDATA["Negative Space" nominated for Qwartz]]>Mon, 06 Feb 2012 11:50:43 -0500http://bluesausageinfant.com/2/post/2012/02/negative-space-nominated-for-qwartz.htmlVery honored to have been nominated for a Qwartz award in the "experimentation" category, for the "Negative Space" album. The short-list is up on the Qwartz site, now it's your turn: vote here [link] -- voting closes on the 15th of February.

With the awards ceremony in Paris on 29march, this makes a European mini-tour inevitable! Friends in Paris and London: watch the skies! BSI and VIOLET are coming... These are strange days indeed. ]]>
<![CDATA[New CD enters 3rd trimester]]>Fri, 23 Dec 2011 11:08:18 -0500http://bluesausageinfant.com/2/post/2011/12/new-cd-enters-3rd-trimester.htmlThe next Blue Sausage Infant full release is tentatively set for Spring 2012, and will contain a new batch of shorter pieces; a bit more violent, self-indulgent, and stompy this time. Strange echoes of the earliest BSI cassettes, but much better recorded (!) ... With some old familiar guests and new names to throw a little unexpected spice in the broth.

Finishing recording in the next two weeks, then a flurry of mixing. Watch this space for updates & how to snag a copy. Also plotting some gigs (in DC and far afield) to promote the thing. Stay tuned...

<![CDATA[This Year Goes To Eleven...]]>Sun, 06 Nov 2011 15:31:49 -0500http://bluesausageinfant.com/2/post/2011/11/this-year-goes-to-eleven.htmlINFINITE THANKS to everyone, everywhere. Last night's deep blue soundbath in the Pyramid Atlantic vault concludes BSI's gigs for 2011. It was, by far, the most active year since the project began (back when Reagans walked the earth). And now to hibernate in the studio to hatch some new, terrible creatures.

<![CDATA[Retail Therapy Now More Therapeutic]]>Tue, 01 Nov 2011 15:59:48 -0500http://bluesausageinfant.com/2/post/2011/11/retail-therapy-now-more-therapeutic.htmlJust some brief housekeeping: the DISCOG/SHOP page has been improved with ultra-groovy "shopping cart" technology, which replaces the individual "buy now" buttons. This is more fair for the hungry shopper who wants it all: one postage calculation for multiple items. So get in there, kids, and buy up everything. It's safe, secure, and goes down like melted soy cheese.... ]]><![CDATA[2012 plans...]]>Wed, 26 Oct 2011 09:31:35 -0500http://bluesausageinfant.com/2/post/2011/10/2012-plans.htmlLooking forward to 2012, thinking about some small tours. At this point, all of planet Earth is on the table for consideration. Festival promoters & other interested parties, get in touch....

Also, feeling the itch for more studio time. Feels like a big vinyl baby is churning in the womb. ]]>
<![CDATA[TONIGHT: Roedelius @ Velvet Lounge]]>Wed, 12 Oct 2011 12:44:23 -0500http://bluesausageinfant.com/2/post/2011/10/tonight-roedelius-velvet-lounge.htmlShort notice, I know. But those on The Facebooks etc have suffered my spam for a while, regarding this. The great Hans-Joachim Roedelius headlines an evening of great sounds at Velvet Lounge, with tour companion Xambuca, as well as spacerock collective Kohoutek and your humble narrator BSI.

I'm opening the evening with a relatively short set of deep kosmische electronic head-music (and projections made specially for the event), so don't be late! Doors 7:30, sound promptly at 9pm.

If it weren't for the Cluster albums CLUSTER '71, CLUSTER II, and CURIOSUM, there would never have been a Blue Sausage Infant. HJR's solo album LUSTWANDEL was another huge favorite for its disciplined helpings of sound and space.... It's a heavy honor to play the evening, and pay much respect to Roedelius for many years of great music. See you at The Lounge, yes-yes?]]>
<![CDATA[THE VICODIN HARLOT ORCHESTRA!?!?]]>Mon, 19 Sep 2011 18:16:49 -0500http://bluesausageinfant.com/2/post/2011/09/the-vicodin-harlot-orchestra.htmlHell yes.
On Saturday 22oct11, BSI and John Battema (of Ephemeral Sun fame) will be providing a live improvised soundtrack to a screening of the bizarrely wonderful silent film THE HANDS OF ORLAC. Those of you who attended the Negative Space LP release show at the Velvet Lounge will recall John's soaring Moog mindbending... We're billing the duo as THE VICODIN HARLOT ORCHESTRA. Because we can. See the Performances page for details. Get your wig flipped.

<![CDATA[DISTRICT OF NOISE VOL.4]]>Tue, 06 Sep 2011 12:19:51 -0500http://bluesausageinfant.com/2/post/2011/09/district-of-noise-vol4.htmlThe latest edition of the DON series has landed. This one is a classic compilation LP: 180gram vinyl, all artists representing the thriving DC experimental music scene. The music ranges from noise to angelic drone, damaged pop, heavy psych eyelid-travel, and eccentric whatnot! All top-shelf material. The BSI track "Gemüsemaschine" is unavailable elsewhere. Get it thru the Sonic Circuits Festival website [here].]]><![CDATA[Lineup change for this Sunday]]>Thu, 01 Sep 2011 09:13:14 -0500http://bluesausageinfant.com/2/post/2011/09/lineupchange.htmlTag Cloud had to cancel (blame the earthquake), so the collaboration has become a BSI solo set. Insect Factory is a force of nature not to be missed. A.M. Salad from Baltimore has also been added. Free in-store at CD Cellar. 2607 Wilson Blvd., Arlington VA. 6-8pm. Stop by, dream a little, buy an LP....]]>
